Hi RiseUp Community! My name is Jalonia Walker. I am the new Post-Secondary Readiness Counselor at RiseUp. This is my 18th year in education and I am super excited to spend time with YOU. I am passionate about education and working with students, parents, staff and the community at large. My heart is to build meaningful relationships with all people.
I am a Colorado native and a proud graduate of William Smith High School “Class of 1991”. I attended Regis University where I received a Bachelor of Arts in Interpersonal Communication and a Master of Science in School Counseling. This is my fifteenth year with Denver Public Schools and my first year with RiseUp Community where I am a proud staff member.
What is Your Why?
I have checked all of the boxes for being an at-risk student. I have come to understand that being an at-risk student, didn’t stop me from reaching my goals. I am an educator who understands students and can relate to them in many areas. My WHY is deeply rooted in School Counseling. My purpose is to build meaningful relationships and prepare students for life after high school.
